I’ve been at this since 2015, when I started Servo with a single truck and a rule that hasn’t changed: the customer sees the failed part before anyone quotes a replacement. That’s Clause 4 of The Haven Standard now, but it was just common sense then. I specialize in torsion spring systems - the high-tension assemblies above your door that store mechanical energy and do the actual heavy lifting. These springs are genuinely dangerous to work on; the wound steel can cause serious injury if handled improperly, which is why I handle the diagnostics personally and train every technician to respect the torque. I live in the Hayward Hills with my two dogs, both of whom have learned to sleep through garage door opener testing in the driveway.
Danny R., Senior Installer
Danny’s been hanging doors for fourteen years, and he can eyeball a rough opening within an eighth of an inch. His specialty is Clopay and Amarr full-view aluminum installations - the kind you see on modern homes in the Jackson Triangle and Burbank areas where curb matter matters. He’s I.D.E.A. certified for door system installation, which means he’s passed the industry’s standardized test for track alignment, spring tensioning, and safety reverse calibration. Danny’s the one who insists we check every photo eye alignment with a 2×4 block test before we pack up, even when the customer is in a hurry. Off the clock, he restores vintage motorcycles and applies the same tolerance obsession to carburetor alignment.
Teresa V., Service Coordinator
Teresa answers the phones you call at 2 a.m. when your torsion spring snaps and your car is trapped in the garage. She’s been with Servo since 2019, and she’s the reason a live person picks up - every time, including holidays. She dispatches Marcus or Danny with a named technician and an on-the-way text, not a callback window. Teresa maintains our parts inventory for Hayward, which means she knows whether we have a LiftMaster 8365W logic board or a Genie 38845R.S carriage in the van before the truck leaves. Jake M., Apprentice Technician
Jake joined us in 2023 after two years in general construction. He’s working toward his own I.D.E.A. certification under Danny’s supervision, and he’s already competent on opener repairs - replacing trolley carriages, adjusting limit switches, and troubleshooting remote frequency interference. The limit switch, by the way, is the small electronic component that tells the motor when to stop; when it fails, your door either slams shut or reverses for no apparent reason. Jake handles most of these calls now, with Danny reviewing his photo record before we send the invoice. He’s the one who asks the questions customers forget to - like whether they’ve changed their Wi-Fi password recently, which knocks smart openers offline more often than you’d think. Jake surfs at Bolinas when the swells are right, which means he understands patience and timing better than most twenty-four-year-olds.
